Structured as informative seminars, Guide Right symposiums assemble senior high athletes from the greater Memphis area for unique opportunities to hear from high profile, professional athletes and community leaders. As role models to the largest audience, these individuals have the ability to influence young athletes in positive and powerful ways. Speakers are invited to address specific issues of critical importance to the group.

FREE Resources to Students

Guide Right depends on the partnership and support of the community. Linkages with community-based organizations and facilities such as the National Civil Rights Museum, are welcomed. At present, HEADLINE SPORTS is seeking support from generous individuals and corporate citizens. All levels of funding and in-kind contributions are requested.

What is Headline Sports, Inc.?

HEADLINE SPORTS, INC. is a non-profit community service organization. That was developed in the year 2000 and authorized in 2003.

Who organized Headline Sports, Inc.?

Founder Larry “Skully” Howell a native son of Memphis TN. graduated from Southside High School attended and graduated from Texas Southern University with a B.S. degree in education member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. pledge in spring of 1980. Larry Howell also promoted a Pro.Soccer game in the Liberty bowl “The Memphis Soccer Shot Out” between the Miami Fusion and the Grand Rapids in the year 2000. Larry Howell worked for several Professional football and basketball franchises in Memphis Tn that included Tennessee Titans, Memphis Mad Dogs, Memphis Maniac and the Memphis Grizzlies he also worked and retired from Fed Ex in the year 2019 after 38 years of faithful service.

How did Headline Sports, Inc. come about?

Larry Howell envisioned an event to inspire and educate student athletes nearing the end of their high school years. Larry recognized the challenges facing our community’s youth as they transition into adulthood. Using their enthusiasm and experiences in high school sports as a springboard for learning.

HEADLINE SPORTS, INC. seeks to increase outreach and offer adjunct services and expand organizational capacity at a healthy,responsive pace in the coming years on and off the field and basketball court.
